5 Trends in Arched Window Treatments

July 12, 2014 By webmaster

Windows can be an outstanding feature, particularly when they have the right window treatments. However, many homeowners have trouble finding the right window treatments for their arched windows. Take a look at these five trends to find the window treatments that will be just right for your arched windows.

The Latest Arched Window Trends

5 Arched Window Trends

1. Leave the arch uncovered.

One of the latest trends for window treatments on arched windows is to leave the arch exposed. Simply place the curtain rod at a point below the arch. This way, you can achieve the privacy you want by drawing the curtains, but still get the natural light provided by the uncovered arch.

2. Dress up the arch with a transom.

A delicately wrought transom made of wood or iron gives the arched window a dramatic look. Depending upon the style of these window treatments, a room can be made to look contemporary or like a throwback to an earlier generation.

3. Create a faux arch.

If your home doesn’t have any arched windows, you can create one using window treatments. Artistically draped fabric that forms an arch up and over the window frame gives you the illusion of an arched window without having to go to the trouble and expense of having a new window installed.

4. Get a curved rod.

Curtain rods don’t have to form a straight line. In fact, your window treatments will look much more dramatic when you choose a curved or flexible rod. This prevents too much light from filtering into the room while also providing a visual focal point.

5. Wood blinds.

Wood blinds or faux wood blinds are fantastically easy to clean. They also look magnificent on arched windows. You’ll have to have the blinds custom made to ensure that they fit your windows precisely, but the expense will be worth it. Blinds allow for maximum privacy and light control, and your blinds can be designed to completely cover the arch if you desire.
